My Friend

What can I say about my friend, Ben Greenwell. I met Ben when I was 16 years old and would spend countless Sundays working with him at 'Abe's Antiques.' Ben was such a generous, kind and thoughtful person to me and he did serve as a surrogate Grandfather to me, as I had never had any of my own. I will always think back to our times together, doing crossword puzzles (he was a master), talking about sports games we enjoyed, hearing about Ben's past life experiences (whether it be ice fishing, watching high school sports in that little town or about his own daughters and grand kids) or our trips to see the Braves play at Turner Field. I loved to keep Ben young, when I was a kid and frequently teased and educated him on what youth was currently into. He always played along... Ben also educated me a lot not only on pottery, which he loved, but also on life. It's hard to sum up a relationship, in such a short space, all I can say is that I will love him and miss him always.
